Re-Evaluate Everything! 19

For just a moment or two life stops

“Yes, you have a tumor.”

Then you re-evaluate everything.

Have you had that moment yet?

Maybe it hasn’t been a tumor.  Maybe it was a phone call that stopped life as you knew it.  Or maybe it was bright headlights in the windshield or the first cry of your newborn.  Whatever caused that moment, you stopped, if only for a moment and re-evaluated everything.

Or maybe it creeps up slowly.

My surgeon tells me I have probably had the tumor for a year or more and never even noticed.  Sometimes, life creeps up on you like that.

At some point you decide …

“It’s time to re-evaluate”

That’s me right now and maybe it’s you.

I love my life and I love what I do for the most part.   I’m a very lucky person and most of the time I do exactly what I want to do.

Until I settle for less.

Maybe it’s just trying to make someone in my life happy.

You know the kind of thing.  You want to do X, but you do Y to keep someone you care about happy.

And most of the time you are fine about that.

At least you are okay, until one-by-one, the little things start to pile up and before you know it there are a pile of things you really don’t want to be doing, but you ARE doing because you think you SHOULD.

Or Maybe You Think You HAVE To!

Everyone has to … eat, sleep, pay the bills … the list goes on …

But consider what happens at those life stopping moments.

Suddenly getting up at 6 AM isn’t quite so important, the dishes can wait and people can actually continue their lives without you to do everything for them.   It’s amazing what other people can do when they don’t have you to depend on.

Let’s Take a Fresh Look!

  •  If you could only do three things, what you want them to be?
  • What mindsets, actions, thoughts, obstacles, people, resources are keeping you from doing what you want to do?
  • What opportunities do you have right now to get around those obstacles?
  • Who can work with you right now to change your life and reach your goals?

We Can Do So Much More Together Than We Can Alone!

Thank you for sharing this always timely advice.  Too often, we act as if we have all the time in the world to make an impact, until we hit one of life’s big speed bumps.  Learning from your example, I plan to MAKE the time more regularly to figure out what’s working, what’s not working yet and what I can do about it.

I’ve had too many of these moments. Each time, I swear I’m changing my life. Still, old habits creep back in. It’s time to turn off the computer and go hug my grand baby.

You know you mean a lot to me and I would love to be in Arizona, but until I get this financial mess cleared up I can not afford to put forth the money.
    Love,

    Ken,

I love seeing how you are able to put such a positive spin on everything. The people who fail to adapt to change are often the ones left behind complaining. Glad to see you are also part of the 20% who react positively to a situation while the other 80% sit around.
