hey Ken, you mentioned video production etc. Where is the best place to find video editors? is there any special place? ir do you think odesk, elance is the best way to go?

Video is a great one. Let me add that offline lead gen works quickly, powerfully and is super profitable (with the right face to face (1st meeting) communication training) in any target market.

Ken, you have so many established channels to monetize your message and help more people. Thanks for the remind us how we can do the same on an on going basis and cross promote. 😉

Hi Ken, great stuff as usual and covers more than enough traffic generation and lead generation techniques.
One of the areas I’ve enjoyed recently is uploading my products to scribd and udemy. Typically I’ll offer the PDF version of the product for free with the upsell video course links/offer embedded in the PDF as well. Interestingly, I’ve had over 950 reads in scribd, that’s a NEW audience for me and outside of the usual IM places such as Warrior Special Offers forum.

I’m working on ‘other’ non IM PDF reports and white-papers as these are fantastic ways to spread your name and brand virally and you can ’embed’ links to your site, facebook, linkedin, YouTube channel etc etc as well. Much along the lines of Seth Godin’s method he adopted in the Ideavirus.

Once again, thanks for the share and I’m off to adopt some of the other methods you have outlined for my new product 🙂

    Regards

    Ken
    Excellent info.
I have attended many of the local meet ups.I find that many of the attendees to the local meet ups bring a selling mentality to clarify I fine that a large portion of the attendees want to sell you a product or service they are offering right now. I have given away a free video production, books on marketing and info to use now,in most cases that was the end of the conversation. This does not mean that it is a pointless act of making contacts to build relationships it just has not worked well for me .

    Thank you

      Hey Pete,

I think the key at meetups is to create the relationship first. Most people at meetups are in SELL mode, when they should be in LISTEN mode. Wait until you have something that solves someone’s real need or want before you start putting your stuff out there and you’ll get much better results.

If you keep your mouth closed long enough, you will find that people BEG you to open it.

      Many thanks for the comments!

        Ken
        your right
I have cut back on the meet ups because the time involved and the process can be a bit strung.Direct response mail seems to be a winning hand.

        Thank you for your time

        • KenMcArthur

I agree they can be a time drag. You need sufficient attendance and great interaction to make it work, but one person can pay off for a lifetime.

Over the last 7 years that I’ve worked in Internet Retailing,
by far the most successful lead generation process I used was Viral
Sweepstakes, I say viral because you need promote to your network and encourage
them to tell their friends (in exchange for extra entries into the
sweepstakes). I understand you could add
this to your Viral Campaigns section but it’s so easy/cheap/successful that it
should really be on its own in my opinion.
I would love to discuss further.

Ken, I didn’t hear you mention eCourses. I make available over 50 Free ecourses that have built a substantial list of targeted leads – among the more responsive of all of my lists. …Richard

Hi Ken, You pretty much covered it all. Only things I would add would be an event preview magazine that gets distributed in cities where the event is to be held, preview of speakers and content, plus weekly webinars via webinar swaps 6-8 weeks out from an event. Again the idea is to give people a taste of what is to come speakers and content so they want to be there to get more info…

    Hi Ken

Am a little jetlagged … just got back home … so excuse the spelling … here are my comments:

Your post is very comprehensive and a great resource. Thank you.

Focus (& cherry picking) is an essential element of success. So one method at a time and ‘continuing’ steadily over the medium to long term are fundamental to using the methods you highlighted.

Achieving the above requires a team in order to avoid you working ‘in’ your business and help you work ‘on’ your business.

More specifically about the methods …

Someone mentioned sweepstakes … a form of contests. I’d say “contests” work extremely well. And I am testing some as we speak. I will share when I have current figures. There are many contest announcement sites to help get the word out to the most ‘contest hungry’.

One often mentioned and seldom used method is viral campaigns. I know few people who actively try to build viral elements into their activities. I know Phil Basten is into that. And so is Frank Sousa. I think that’s an area you could do a little more for your (super) events coz you get huuuuuge leverage for your efforts.

Finally, “associations” and in particular “business associations” local to your events get you multiple benefits. Online/IM ponds are over fished. And the prospects are jaded. There is world of brick & mortar businesses, who have no exposure to the IM frenzy.

The principals look favourably to going online as a new channel. They do not use personal credit cards to pay for business expenses (& are not maxed out). They are NOT desperate to make their first few dollars online since they have established businesses, unlike most of the IM people hoping to supplement day jobs … nothing wrong with that but we are talking about fresh (and valuable) leads.

And last but not least, the established businesses think nothing of a $500 dollar product. Their monthly photocopier costs are more than that.

In my mind, for your events, reaching out to these local business associations where your event is held is probably the most fruitful single activity.

BTW, when I ran IT events (100+ of them) for the business community, we virtually never had anyone drop out before the event. And we never had an empty seat. You know where to find me if you’d like more 😉

BTW, when I mention contests & contest hungry people, make no mistake ‘they’ are not the target prospects for your events. They are are the target messengers. For unbelievably simple and cheap prizes they will promote your events (or other offerings) to a world they you cannot reach. They viralize your marketing.

Good material, overall. A glaring omission was social media in general (Twitter and Facebook), and Linked-In, in particular. Linked In participants are the decision makers in the company (owners, CEOS, executives) – you bypass the gate keepers. The average income of a person on Linked In is $107k: they have money to buy your products or services. And there are methods to produce daily targeted leads for your business. (kacy@usa.com)
And a strong recommendation for you, Ken, is to join a local Toastmasters chapter. Your 13 minute presentation had over 100 “Um’s, Ah’s”, and other filler verbal graffiti. A typical “newbie” to speaking usually has less than 10 such fillers in their 5-7 minute speech. Even if you triple their rate to equal the amount of time you spoke, you did over 70% worse. Toastmasters is one of the best investments a person can make to enhance their speaking ability, as well as their leadership abilities. All under a no-pressure, hostility-free environment. Just saying….

Like Carol, I ‘m wondering what happened to jvAlert San Diego?
For those of us who went to college, alumni organizations can be great for networking (think MIT, USC, Harvard, Stanford). Some are very active with weekly or monthly networking events.

This packed punch Ken… Keep it up (btw you put in a tremendous shift crafting this one up)… The IM business mainstream will definitely be a lot better with talented people like you around – saturating the airwaves with powerful nuggets such as this…

Keep it up and have a wonderful weekend… Cheers.
