Bob Yeager rocks! I first met Bob Yeager in Orlando, Florida at Ken’s JV Alert Live event. Bob has had a major impact on my life. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have Bob mentor me in my business. He never ceases to challenge me and amaze me and reveal things that I should have seen on the radar.

I have to admit that the time we spent together discussing the whole situation that entrepreneurs find themselves in these days was enlightening to say the least…. will be very interested to see what others think about the call and the topic in general.

Someone made a comment along these lines: “it’s not your fault that you don’t know what you don’t know”; then another comment was added that this was true, but “if we taught you what you didn’t know, and then you still don’t do anything with it, then it is your fault” (I may be paraphrasing, but that is how I understood it.)
I think that there is a little more at work here than not taking action.
First, you may have thought you taught something, they may not have understood what you meant in a way that they could use it.
Second, they may still be missing something you take for granted, a skill, information like knowing that you have to pay for hosting, or that you need something to put on a hosting account, or any of dozens of steps that become second nature when you do them over and over. And sometimes people don’t know enough to ask the questions they need answered.
(I do understand that there are many people looking for the magic button to become millionaires, with no effort on their part, and “gurus” offering to sell it to them, but some people are lost and afraid, and don’t know what to do next.)
I guess what I am trying to say is that I found the statement about it being “your fault” too judgemental, and not seeing what else may be going on.
Beyond that, I thought you all shared some great insights, and I hope to listen in on further conversations.

Oh I do so agree with you, that there is a little more at work here than not taking action. This has been a twisting, winding road. Some of these steps do have gaps, and lots of times I have had to use other resources to figure it out, not knowing if I could even figure it out.  Even in putting content on my blog, I could not get it done “take action” until I got clearer (on my own) with HTML. So it was not a case of intentionally not taking action, or looking for push button riches, but confusion. I was so discouraged and upset with myself I did not get it done (take action) for quite awhile.  I had this conversation with my son earlier today, in spite of all the delays and anguish, I have not given up and things are getting easier for me to figure out and I now know that I can figure it out. I have learned alot from Bob and Mike and I am more prepared to  implement (take action).

      all great points EC

We were mainly referring to those who understand what we have taught them and all the little pieces that go with it.

Surprisingly, even after that there are many who do not go the extra mile.

At the same point, a lot of lost and afraid is true… that’s why we are doing these calls:)

Thank you sooooo much for your honest feedback and listening so closely!

Hey guys, this was a great call and what stood out to me, was that we all have different reasons for becoming an entrepreneur. And different success stories or stories being created as we each work towards our goals.

Silva talked about he had a five year plan that took him six years but he didn’t give up and now we can learn from his story.

Bob advice on knowing when to talk and when to listen is I think one of many key points from this group discussion along with how we should avoid distractions even if we have to create distraction free time.

I look forward to a follow-up but one way to mixed things up a little would be to also invite a newbie or novice on the next call and ask them questions and let do the same to get a fresh perspective.

Really good stuff from Bob,Ken and Mike!  Revelation to me, and confirmation of why it has been so difficult in getting started with an online business – the Online Internet Businesses and opportunities are coming into MATURITY! Makes a lot of sense, and confirms the difficulty I have been running into. Also being reminded of where I have succeeded, along the way with all my failures. (Like registering my first domain name, building my first blog, setting up my first auto responder, learning WHAT a keyword is and then researching it. There have been some successes – am I ready to continue the good fight … INDEED, with the help of PROS like Bob, Mike and now Ken. Thanks guys

I am so appreciative of the training and support I have received from Bob and Mike.  These guys have shown me that I can succeed by believing in me!  Thanks for creating the WEST program as a personal development platform to live life… not just to learn how to market products online!  I’ve learned how to live life again… Here’s my big question for next time. How do you set goals without having expectations? ( I’m a baby boomer that’s in the process of composing business plans for the first time in my life!)  LOL Thanks for a great interview Guys!

Far too many so-called MLMs are dead-ringer Ponzi schemes.  They have no product of value and they are built on selling a money sham.  The product(s) is often vague, non-existent, stale, worthless, dubious or ubiquitous.  Matrix explanations by the leaders put me on high alert (and should do so for you, as well).

That being said, I do get about $150 residual/mo. after having lost dozens of friends/relatives years’ ago with my obnoxious persistence with an MLM for about five years.

Serial MLMers are spreading like cat crap.  I have known several network marketing lifers, but rarely are they involved with the company they pounded years ago or squeezing a dime from the industry anymore.  They moved on.  Most of those “Can’t miss, debt-free, exploding opps” dudded out on them in short order.  But there is always a new crowd of naivetes ready and willing to fill the void in these hard times.

A fool and his money always part.  The modern-day Internet makes fraudulent “smoke and mirror” gambits which would have led to arrest and bankruptcy in the 80’s into a flourishing industry in 2011.

Spieling nonsense to borderline illiterate,  “As-seen-on-Oprah” crowds is no more than the white man’s version of Nigerian scams.  The result of buying into the dreams of many gurus is that we learn tricks and software far more often than we learn strategic planning.

I realize this is not going to be a popular viewpoint with the well-intentioned panelists in this discussion.  But brainwashing is an expertise of mine and most online marketing schemes are not based on self-empowerment, but rather on using trigger words and NLP techniques to sell ice to the Eskimos.

Nine out of ten marketers online are blind believers of push-button success through justified scheming.  Great marketers can change the world for the better or they can set back civilization through building a world of short-changed skeptics and cynics.”The great masses of the people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than to a small one,” said that charmer, Adolph Hitler.  He could have been talking about the ever-slicker marketers of the Millennium Age.Yes, making money can and should be done ethically with value-added products or services.  The principled, great success stories have a strategy and a system built on providing a continuing stream of over-delivering products to their prospects/customers.  Unfortunately, a miniscule few can claim they are doing so, no matter how delicious their rhetoric may sound to the untrained ear.

      Hey Richard,

Many thanks for your considered reply.

I personally have zero experience in MLM, but I’ve been kicking around Internet marketing for a LONG time.

In that time I’ve found hundreds of people with hearts of gold trying to help people achieve their dreams.  Some have been more successful than others and usually it’s because of THEIR efforts, not because someone provided them with a magic bullet.

With hard work, you can leverage the amazing benefits that the Internet has brought us.

Countless people earn a decent living that way.

No magic bullet — sorry — but lots of hard work.

      Do most fail?

It’ depends on how you define failure.

I fail constantly, because I try things constantly.

I also succeed on a regular basis because failure IS an option.

Most people aren’t cut out to be online marketers — or professional dancers, artists, CEOs, plumbers, garbage truck drivers.

In fact, most doesn’t apply to MOST things!

What there is MUCH to be gained by learning from people who have been through it and we can do so much more working together than we ever can working alone.

      All the best,

      Ken

    • Bob Yeager

      well thought out position Richard

It is difficult to sift through the trash and the bad products/ companies.

It is even more difficult, at times to find the ones that work and to stick with them for long periods of time.

That’s why, in the strategy of marketing you eloquently mentioned, diversification should be a part of the over all puzzle.

Sticking with a company for more than 1 or 2 years is a start, but leverage many elements of your niche business like direct sales, affiliate marketing and product creation of high quality products.

      Most people are confused.

1 suggestion is that if the confusion overwhelms the senses and reason… step away until you are prepared to see the forest beyond the trees.

Thank you for your highly valuable input Richard

P.S. I’m a certified NLP practioner… NLP can not be enforced… it can only be experienced. It is usually those who have the heightened awareness who make the conscious choice TO experience what they want to hear

If you really believe in yourself and what you are doing keep going is the secret, and stop listening to those who keep knocking you down. Hello my name is Pat Brosnan and i was one of those people who kept getting knocked down every time i tried to get up. For years I was trying to get the( internet) to work for me and kept hitting a wall, but I knew there was something there. I met Bob just over two years ago and then met Mike a short while after, since that time I a have a business running online and I have trained as a certified trainer and coach.
Many many doors have opened for me in those past two years, I have gone from social welfare to being unemployable. That has all come from the friendship (which is on top of my list) and knowledge and know how these two guys have. Your W.E.S.T. program has given me what I was searching for for a lot of years, and now I am up there with the best. Great interview and keep it going

      Hey Pat,

It was great to spend some time with quality positive people.  You can’t have enough positive people in your life for sure!

      All the best,

      Ken

This was a fantastic talk. I found each of you were very informative. I got a lot out of your talking. This would be great if I could  use it in developing a product and set it up. I can build a website. I need to be  able to develop a list for whatever I might have a product for.
Are we going to have jvAlerts anymore? Do you plan on meetings?
I am in the Impact Partnering Program Pro. I called Zna and joined her except I’ve been sick with allergies ever since.
