Did I Lose You? 22

Tom Cruise’s character in the movie of John Grisham’s book, The Firm, stares his wife Abby dead in the eye after admitting his affair and utters the fateful words, “Did I lose you?”

Sometimes I feel like that young lawyer fighting hard while everything around him is falling apart, trying desperately to hold onto the people that mean so much and yet wondering all the time, “Did I lose you?”

Okay, I’m not young anymore, but e-mail deliverability isn’t what it used to be. The world is noisier than ever and what I really want to do is personally impact YOUR life and the people that you care about.

Sometimes, it’s not so easy.

I believe in the power of my live events and the magic that always happens there, but it’s harder for people to be there even when they want to be there so badly.

I want to be USEFUL in a very real way. I want to personally change your life for the better and I’m trying night and day to do it.

After four years of research, I just announced that my new book, “The Impact Factor: How Small Actions Change the World” is now available for pre-sale.

The reviews are amazing!

In only weeks, I’m traveling to Washington, DC to meet with people who can gather there to change lives at jvAlert Live.

And on a more personal and intense level at the Washington, DC One Day Intensive.

I’m partnering with remarkable people and producing new learning materials and ramping up our coaching and mentoring programs.

I’m helping a few select people with great products to help get them out to the world.

But ….

What have I done for YOU lately!

If you are like MOST of my subscribers and friends, not so much.

Out of 70 thousand plus subscribers only a small percentage of people respond at all.

Even fewer participate in my programs or attend a live event or purchase a product from me.

What’s a guy to think?

Did I lose you?

If you don’t let me know what you are thinking and feeling, I’ll never really know.

It’s like those people who brush in and out of your life and when they go …. as another MacArthur said long ago … they just fade away.

I really want to help, so don’t fade away.

I realize I can’t save 70 thousand plus people personally from all of the things that life throws out of them.

I can’t cure your physical ailments, save your soul or make you taller.

If you want help with your physical health and fitness take a look at what Zna Trainer is doing with our 90 Day Challenge.

I can’t guarantee you riches, or loved ones or support when you need it most.

And no I can’t pay your mortgage, give everyone who needs it cash and I don’t have a job for all the people who are looking for one.

People WILL let you down from time to time and riches come and go.

But …

I think there are lots of ways I can help and It’s my mission to impact your life and the lives of the people you love in a positive way.

Let me know how I can do that for you personally.

I’m not making promises about what I can do, but I don’t want to lose you and I do want to help.

All the best,

Ken– you’re so right about it being harder to get people to understand how you can impact their lives in today’s noisy world. Maybe we need to come up with a better way to communicate than email. But personally both your heart and your brilliance have had an impact on me. I may not get to lots of events, but I pay attention to what you say and tell others about you. Thank you for all you do because I know it truly comes from your passion to help others.

    Warmly,
    Janis Pettit

It’s a shame that some people just don’t get it. You happen to be one of the most giving people that I have been honored to know. Wish I could do more for you.

Ken, the best thing about you, well, one of the best things, is that you’re real.

The fact that you lose Dave and John in your example in your email today is honestly a really good thing.

Those two are negative and demoralizing and bring nothing to the game of helping others.

They’re way too immersed in their own self-pity to look up and see there are others who are more than willing and able to find a way to make a difference in someone’s life.

For YOU, Ken to help them make a difference in their lives.

Now, if it were up to me, I’D BE AT YOUR EVENT IN A HEARTBEAT…

Why am I not there?  Well, it’s not the date YET and I’m working every single moment of my day to increase my sales and make it happen.  All I need is a plane ticket, a place to stay and an entry.

Ken, you’re an incredible source of knowledge and virtue and I’m proud and honored to be on your ‘list’.  Thank you for continued efforts to help all of us see that we can make a difference.

      Hey Michael,

Got even more tough feedback after today’s e-mail and more amazing positive feedback.

Can’t wait to see you too Michael!

Hey Ken, I met you back in 2008 at a JVAlert in Orlando.

I worked the event because I couldn’t afford a ticket to it.

Back then, I was just jazzed about the internet and knew that it would help all of us live the lives of our dreams on our own terms as we shared our gifts and passions with the world.

Today, I’m still figuring it out, putting the right pieces together, and evolving toward my sweet spot in the world, in spite of the “faster than ever” pace of it all.   I wish I had been ready for what I’m moving towards now back then, but, in Gods time I will make what I’m here to do happen, because I’ve never been afraid of the work.

The knowing “what to do, and how to do it”, that’s a different story.

You’re right Ken, there’s more going on in practically everyone’s life today that there has ever been before, and I know that personally, I’m choosing more wisely what I give my time and attention to.

Getting people to interact is and will always be a key to useful engagement and believe me brother, you are one of the good guys, when it comes to interacting with us, and forwarding our visions.

The thing is, nowadays, if you aren’t laser focused on a pretty specific area, where you intimately know the people that you serve, and have clear transitional solutions for the problems that you propose to solve, you’re lost in the soup, it’s just that simple.

I’m glad to see that your book is happening, that is something that will likely reinvigorate interest in your core purpose and message which is one of  “I’m here to help you move forward with your dream” correct?

If it seems like we’ve fallen away quietly, it may only be because we’ve drilled down to our own knowing of what we’re really here to do.

You have found that for yourself Ken, you’ve lived it, and you’ve done tremendous things in an effort to connect people with each other as collaborators and friends on the way to doing and becoming more.

We’re all either spiraling upward and outward towards something bigger and better, or downward an inward towards something smaller and worse, but there’s no standing still allowed Ken, and you are a shining example of continuous forward movement.

Surely Ken, any and all who take the time to know you, will benefit from your caring and supportive spirit as they seek their path to their own greatness.

Take care Ken, and thank you for being you !

    Ken,
I doubt you can “loose me” if you tried. Even with limited means while I get close to a blast off, I learn from your deep knowledge base and your easy writing style.

I gave up most public opinion when I got serious about the Community Impact work when I worked for United Way of Central Ohio.

    Your a good egg Ken

Its good you say to do good stuff Ken I like to hear that. This is where conciousness needs to be, so many people try so much to make it big in city that they lose sight of reality. To do real good stuff there will be the thought. Thanks for financing the thought.

  • Larry Steinhouse

I had to chime in on this, even if it a bit late ( i was away last week).

Ken you are one of the good guys.  You know I am a big fan of yours, but I also value all you do.  i wish i could make more events but with the craziness of Mall Stars, it is a challenge.  Everyone should know that there is so much knowledge transferred at everyone of your events.  The speakers are always awesome and the conversation on the couches and bar stools is infinitely as valuable. Don’t stop what you are doing! in fact you should charge more!
