<h2>Tobri Announces Kinetic Typography Video Contest</h2>
<p>According to Wikipedia, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinetic_typography" target="_blank">Kinetic typography</a> —the technical name for &#8220;moving text&#8221;— is an animation technique mixing motion and text. This text is presented over time in a  manner intended to convey or evoke a particular idea or emotion. It is  often studied in Communication Design and Interaction Design courses. Some commonly seen examples of this technique include movie title sequences and credits, web page animation and other entertainment media.</p>
<p><a href="http://tinyurl.com/blgg5d" target="_blank">Traffic Geyser</a> co-founder, Mike Koenigs and his team recently used kinetic typography in their video promotion materials for  <a href="http://tinyurl.com/blgg5d" target="_blank">Social Media Marketing Machines.</a></p>
<p>Today Tobri is announcing a Kinetic Typography Video Contest to encourage the Kinetic Typography Community and to reward one creative effort.</p>

<p>It doesn&#8217;t matter who you are, what your opinions might be or even whether you have anything to say worth listening to.</p>

<p>In fact, they are listening to someone right now and they might as well be listening to you!</p>
<h3>But, most likely they aren&#8217;t.</h3>
<p>Even if you have thousands of fans, clients, customer and supporters for your ideas, products and services, you haven&#8217;t even touched the surface of the audience available to you right now.</p>
<p>As I write this there are 310,574,391 people in the United States alone and  the world has a few more &#8230; 6,877,731,978 at last count.</p>
<h3>I&#8217;m pretty sure you aren&#8217;t reaching them all.</h3>
<p>But, I&#8217;m also just as sure that there are THOUSANDS of people who agree with what you want to say &#8212; No matter what you think.</p>
<h2>1. &#8220;Who IS your Target Audience&#8221;</h2>

<li>What type of audience do you want?</li>
<li>Are you looking for a particular age, gender, location etc – or stage of life, political interests?</li>
<li>What are the personality traits, emotions, needs, passions and frustrations of you audience?</li>
<li>What value or benefit can you bring to the table?</li>
<li>Who is your ideal customer?</li>
<li>What kinds of groups or associations would they join?</li>
<li>What do they dislike?</li>

</p><h2>Yesterday, I went to an event.</h2>
<p>Some people were happy and others were definitely not.</p>
<p>The event promoter put a ton of money and effort into putting on a great event, but instead of the big event he was planning, the event turned out to be very small.</p>
<p>Some people were understandably upset.  Speakers had traveled at significant expense to attend the  event expecting to speak to 800 or more people.</p>
<p>The stage was beautifully set, a six person video crew was on hand to tape the event, there were 800 chairs in place and &#8230;</p>
<h2>People didn&#8217;t show up.</h2>
<p>Well &#8230; some people showed up, but probably less than 5% of the people who were expected.</p>
<p>This is a painful situation for everyone.</p>
<p>And it&#8217;s when you find out who your friends are.</p>
<p>Imagine the first day of the event. The event promoter has poured countless hours and dollars into the event, the speakers have flown across the country or in some cases halfway around the world to be there and there are empty chairs everywhere.</p>
<p>If you are the promoter or one of the speakers at first you are in shock. Then you go through all of the stages of grief &#8230;  Rapidly.</p>
<ul>
<li>Denial</li>
<li>Anger</li>
<li>Bargaining</li>
<li>Depression</li>
<li>Acceptance</li>
</ul>
<p>Well maybe anger hangs around a while and acceptance takes a little longer to get around to.</p>
<h2>And you make a choice.</h2>
<p>Some of the speakers chose to cut their losses.</p>
<p>When they heard about the low attendance they canceled flights and decided not to show up &#8212; after all they weren&#8217;t given what they were promised.</p>
<p>Others, decided to meet their contractual obligations.</p>
<p>Others chipped in and did double work to make up for people who didn&#8217;t show up.</p>
<p>Some speakers urged the promoter to cut his losses and cancel the event, but he decided to put the event on for the people who did show up.</p>
<h2>And twenty or thirty people had a great weekend experience with some world-class speakers.</h2>
<p>I was talking to the event promoter and considering the circumstances he seemed to be hanging in there.</p>
<p>I told him ..</p>

<h2>&#8220;At least you know who your friends are.&#8221;</h2>
</blockquote>
<p>When things get really tough for everyone, you quickly discover who is really there for you.</p>
<p>We all have failures and lots of times things don&#8217;t work out the way we plan.  Friends help us get through that.</p>
<p>When I do live events, for a brief moment in time I&#8217;m privileged to be the focus of many people&#8217;s attention.</p>
<p>Lots of people come up to me and say &#8230;</p>
<blockquote>
<h2>&#8220;Ken, if I can ever do anything for you, just let me know.&#8221;</h2>
</blockquote>
<p>For the most part, I thank them and we go on with life.  Thousands SAY they will do something for you and the actual friends who do something is  much lower.</p>
<p>The number who will do something for you expecting NOTHING in return is MUCH lower.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s completely understandable.</p>
<p>We are all busy and EVERYONE has hundreds if not thousands of people who we would like to help &#8230; and only so much time or so many resources to share.</p>

<p>That&#8217;s the way most of us are with our friends.</p>

<p>Actually, I&#8217;ll probably know exactly who does, because I&#8217;ve set up a Google Alert on the word <a href="http://tobri.com/" target="_blank">Tobri</a>, and I see most of the results when people talk about <a href="http://tobri.com/" target="_blank">Tobri</a> on their blogs, on Twitter, Facebook or in their newsletters.</p>
<h2>SO WHAT&#8217;S IN IT FOR YOU IF YOU DID &#8230;</h2>
<p>Here&#8217;s where the interesting part comes in &#8230;<br />

Today, at this moment there is NOTHING in it for you.</strong></p>

<p>If you are one of the 99 people that I just e-mailed about being accepted into the Tobri.com Alpha Team and you registered for the webcast you are all set.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s been a decade in the planning, a year in specifications, broad strokes and programming and now the time has finally come to invite the very first members of the Tobri.com Alpha team into the system.</p>
<p>This amazing project is moving forward at a very rapid rate now, but one thing is missing.</p>
<p>We can test and plan all day long, but until we have active users in the system, we can&#8217;t work out the bugs, kick the tires, fine-tune the processes and start building the community that will expand at a mind-blistering rate when<br />
we launch the full system.</p>
<h2>Obviously, we don&#8217;t want a large group to start out with.</h2>
<p>In fact, right now the worst thing that could happen would be if the word got out about this before we were ready for<br />
full launch.</p>
<p>The Tobri system was built from the ground up to be viral and once we launch it will grow VERY quickly.</p>
<p>In fact, if just a few Tobri Alpha members were to let the cat out of the bag, this thing would explode so fast that<br />
we wouldn&#8217;t be able to keep the lid on.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s why we need to keep tight control of our VERY important Tobri Alpha Team members &#8211; especially in the<br />
beginning phases.</p>
<p>At the start you won&#8217;t be able to tell ANYONE about this project or invite anyone to be a part of the alpha.</p>
<p>We are only inviting a few select members from people who saw my presentations at the jvAlert Live or Impact events<br />
or are on a few select lists from my websites and the MBS Internet Research Center.</p>
<h2>This is your opportunity to get in at the start of something VERY big.</h2>
<p>Key real-estate is available right now, just like it was at the beginning of the Oklahoma land rush.</p>
<p>Think of this like being able to suddenly register URLs that are only 3-5 characters long, with solid targeted search<br />
